KZ7 - Seven Winds of the Seven Seas (2016)
Genre: Instrumental, Heavy Acoustic, Metal
Artist: KZ7
Album: Seven Winds of the Seven Seas (08 June 2016)
Country: Pará, Brazil
"The idea was to merge what we had in common and different, to do something different with our style." (driigomes)
KZ7, with their first album-project, The Seven Winds of Seven Seas, brings a fictional story that unfolds around the fifteenth century, when as a result of wars between France and England, an accomplished sailor must abandon their city, that which was on the verge of Seashore, which had brought inexplicable moments and frequent setting of the sun, not to perish in a strike led by French troops. So he goes there with some acquaintances in search of a new place, in search of the unknown.
Sharing ideas that both guarded, born several songs, and a riff on pedal-point, comes another song: "Guardian of Horizons" (listen to the demo version here).
"To initiate the development of the story I thought Nothing better to do it in style, orchestrating and putting one on top guitars, to break everything. That's how I thought of the opening song, the "Quest for Unkown" (Willy A.)
In addition to instruments, which were the focus, the project also brought opportunities for the vocals, present in Despair songs and tears under the sunset, in hard-rock and acoustic styles, respectively.
"Perhaps one of the most interesting things about the project was that, while I'm more accustomed to a heavier sound, and he in something more erudite and robust at the time of writing, we were the Heavy Metal orchestras, acoustic quarter-notes to sestinas, not to mention that I learned a lot with him... " (driigomes)
The demos have been published occasionally in the Youtube channel, check them here.
The story behind the album
"Fleeing away from chaos, hatred, war. In one day, the beautiful and gentle city of Blueshore no longer be the same. Nobody could imagine that this beautiful setting of the sun almost every afternoon shone on the bay waters disappeared to give way to darkness reflected in the blood spilled on water. Nobody could imagine that this place, so far away from any other corner where reign impurity and malice, could be invaded by atrocious men, armed with the most deadly weapon in a war - hatred. Nobody could imagine that the beautiful countryside of the city, modestly dubbed "Elysian" burn in flames and the ashes only would keep the memories of the great moments that were lived there. No one could imagine that one day had to abandon Blueshore, hastily departed, leaving everything behind, hovering in silence and sorrow. And then came the utopia reality!"

[Album Review]: Alexandra Zerner - 9 Stories (2014)
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Alexandra Zerner is a solo artist, guitar player, multi-instrumentalist, composer, session musician and sound engineer. And in November of year de 2014, she started her solo career as a guitarist, working on her debut solo album “9 Stories”,
The latest release is entitled "9 Stories", features nine themed/conceptual pieces that enable Alexandra Zerner to display pretty impressive compositional, production and performance capabilities. Alexandra Zerner is a multi-instrumentalist and the tunes benefit from the full use of Alexandra tonal pallet, including guitar piano and organ which adds significantly to quality of the album. In the solo work, you can hear Alexandra's influences, a nod to Petrucci a wink to Friedman ("Memoirs Of A Geisha" and "The Sorrows Of Young Werther") and Yngwie/Becker overtones ("Girl With A Pearl Earring") . The guitar tone is full on and metallic, plenty of over driven grunt, but not too bright in tone, which adds to over all sound balance for the album.
Alexandra has created exquisite classical acoustic pieces, subtle classical piano driven pieces like Light Breathing and then more hard hitting progressive rock/metal tracks in your work. The whole album is well recorded and produced, with intelligent compositions which are well balanced and well thought through. I am pleased to say there is a significant amount of high quality guitar playing through out which will tick the box of any guitar fan and the conceptual nature of the album should put it on the shopping list of fans progressive music.
